At Wednesday's meeting I was talking to several members who were feeling less than comfortable with the 'portraits' theme and we got to discuss about less formal ways of approaching it.

By way of an example Barton under Needwood are having a steam rally at their site Sat & Sun 19th / 20th Oct. Entry is £8 for adults £6 for under 16s http://www.nsctec.co.uk/

Plenty of free parking is available.

There will be plenty of grubby faces - I think the correct phrase may be 'characters' and many of them are trying hard not to crash into other things so not bothered about photographers - a mid range telephoto would be a good tool for the day.
